Masai Mara Wildlife Photography Tour
Situated in Kenya, the terrain of the reserve is primarily open grassland with seasonal riverlets. All members of the “Big Five” (Lion, Leopard, African elephant, Cape buffalo, and Black rhinoceros) are found in the Maasai Mara. Hippopotami and crocodiles are found in large groups in the Mara and Talek rivers. Leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes can also be found in the reserve. More than 470 species of birds have been identified in the park, many of which are migrants, with almost 60 species being raptors.

Tour Schedule
Day 1: September 8th, 2019, Sunday
Land in Nairobi by morning and start our drive towards Masai Mara. We will make brief stopovers for lunch, scenic views, and refreshments en route the seven-hour drive to the reserve. Dinner will be served at the camp upon arrival and followed by a tour briefing session.
Day 2: September 9th, 2019, Monday
Wake up to the calls of resident birds around the camp area and refresh yourself with a cup of tea/ coffee. Get ready quickly for a thrilling first full day (dawn to dusk) safari experience at the Masai Mara Reserve.
Lunch will be sent from the camp and served inside the reserve during the full-day game drives. Enjoy your bush meal amidst the wildlife of the Mara.
Evening at your leisure, we discuss the day’s memories and review the images made during the day.
Day 3: September 10th, 2019, Tuesday
Now that we had done a day at the reserve, we start our morning with a cup of coffee/ tea and headed on to the reserve to find good photo opportunities. After your exciting BushMeal, we continue to look for more photo opportunities until evening.
Evening, we review the images made during the day and exchange ideas among the group members.
Post dinner, a shot at milky way photography for those who are interested in the landscapes.
Day 4: September 11th, 2019, Wednesday
With our third full-day safari, we explore the grasslands for a variety of other species that are on our list.
Those with birding interests will be put together in a vehicle to make those exclusive photographs of birds of Masai Mara. time will be spent at appropriate locations to get a variety of birds.
Evening, we review the images made during the day and exchange ideas among the group members.
Post dinner, discuss the tour so far and plan for the next day.
Day 5: September 12th, 2019, Thursday
On our fourth full-day safari, we make sure we get a glimpse of the big five (If we have missed any of them during the previous three days). We spend time at places where the photo opportunity is high and try to make those memorable frames.
Possible interaction and photo opportunity with the Masai Mara tribes.
Evening, we review the images made during the day and exchange ideas among the group members.
Post dinner, we rest for the day.
Day 6: September 13th, 2019, Friday
This is our last full day at Masai Mara and we once again head into the reserve at sunrise and do our best to get everything that is on our wishlist.
Those who are interested to make a short wildlife movie at the reserve could have that opportunity with the required equipment at our disposal. Technical and other required help will be provided to the interested participants. Evening, we review the images made during the day.
Post dinner, we rest for the day.
Day 7: September 14th, 2019, Saturday
For one last time we wake up to the songs of birds inside the reserve and now that we are done with all our game drives, we spend the morning with the beautiful birds at the camp in the company of the in-house naturalist.
With more than 30 species of birds recorded in the camp area, the morning bird walk will be very productive in getting some beautiful pictures of the feathered friends.
Post Breakfast, we pack our bags and leave for the airport.
Throughout the course of the tour, Kenyan wildlife books are available with the tour leader for the participants to refer to and learn about birds.

Tour Companion
Poorna Kedar, a nature lover, and a professional wildlife photographer. He spent about a decade in various genres of photography, the majority of those years in nature & wildlife alone. His favorite subject is birds, he loves shooting anything from mammals, macro, and landscape.
